Consider the following:

1. Only 3000 copies were ever made.

2. Dune fans are extremely difficult to find (at least around here on in the /tg/ community). You pretty much need to be a fan of the setting to begin with in order to survive in it because of all the mind fuckery that goes on.

3. The game itself is engineered for political intrigue and heavy roleplaying. While there is a very good combat system, those of you who know the setting know you can't just go in guns blazing. That gets you killed.

And in case you are wondering, yes I do in fact own a physical copy of this book.

A small group of rag-tag pseudo-rednecks traveling the country in a badass car fighting monsters from any possible lore. Fucking awesome.

Seams like a pretty realistic modern day adventuring party, too. Hunters are always broke backwater idiots from a life on the road, and not being allowed to exist in society. No "I AM DEMON KILLER YEAH!" superhero bullshit.

Wanted to do a Grim-bright setting where the church and its Paladins pretty much controlled everything and had started to rot(think something similar to what Kyras did to the Blood Ravens where the upper ranks were corrupted but the lesser members weren't).

Well, I know the setting well enough to know shields plus lasers equals a really bad day and that it takes a show stroke to pierce a shield. Not too thrilled over the political aspect of it, but I could work with it.

That's awesome, but the problem is the company that originally made the game designed it with the intention of producing suppliments...

They went bankrupt and all their assets were purchased by Wizards shortly after.

As a result, the book has a lot of holes in it that you have to fill yourself.

That said, I'm glad someone would take an interest in it. Around here I only have one other fellow dunefag.

One thing you have to remember though is that it uses its own system rather than a D20, which is why Wizards let it die when they bought the assets to the originating company.

That and being too lazy to renew their dune licence, so we never got a d20 Dune game, which I don't really think is all that big of a deal.

This is the problem. People playing this are hard as hell to find, and it's often using Play-By-Post and other excessively slow methods. Worst of all is that it's often using the DM's piss-take on the canon, whether that means that anything after his favorite era gets badly written into a stagnant uninteresting mess, or the way the universe works itself is toyed with. Two examples of the former would be A) Someone essentially creating an omnipotent robocop-agent NPC who managed to maintain a single top-secret star-league base to make technology even better than that of the clans, or B) Including star-wars force powers and aliens in the game.

No. No. Fucking no. I like the *BATTLETECH* universe, not your ham-fisted homebrew.

My credentials:

I've read everything except the Briand herbert stuff. I only touched his father's things, so all the original Dune novels of the series right up to Chapterhouse.

The Dune RPG is good. Trust me on this.

Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson didn't really touch it or edit it.

The only reason their names are there are for essentially a seal of approval that this is an official Dune product and not a third party manufactured piece of crap.

I swear as a good fan of the series that the Chronicles of the Imperium holds up. Honest. Swear on Frank Herbert's grave. (No, seriously, I live near it)

I also made the mistake of reading some of the Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson stuff.

They have a complete and total disregard and lack of respect for Frank Herbert's writing. They blatantly contradict things he explicitly stated in his novels, make shit up whole cloth, and have retconned the first three novels to no longer being cannon.

Among many other things.

Sorry, but anything with their name on it is abomination.

Always wanted to GM a game where the players are within a megastructure\artificial world that exceeds the laws of physics.

Think 'The Ship' from that setting that /tg/ made, or the megastructure from BLAME!. An implausibly large and alien world, with complete biomes and biological systems.

Many centuries after some catastrophic event, the inhabitants have regressed technologically, and are no longer aware that they live within an artificial environment - they just accept it as reality. People are isolated into pockets that have lost contact with one-another. Some are at a tribal level, some posses technology at the level of the age of sail, and some live in environments that are analogous to a hive city.

The catch is that I want to run it so that the players are unaware that it is an artificial world. The main point of the game would be travelling and discovering that they live in an implausibly large arcology, and unearthing the secrets of the past.

System of choice, GURPS.

One of /tg/ homebrews that never really got fleshed out fully. But the origin stories, and core concepts seem totally awesome and hooked me in at first look. I really want to run this with 7th Sea ruleset or something.

But my group is too busy playing Derpwatch. They offered me to join, but the actual roleplaying in that is fucking weaksause. I'd settle for RT, BUT NOOOOO. SPEES EMPRAH MUHRENS ARE TEH BESTEST.

I hate my group sometimes...

Two settings:
I'd love to play a game set in the Mass Effect universe. IMO it's an interesting setting that would lend itself well to a tabletop RPG (assuming everyone was comfortable using pretty much only guns).

Second,
A setting based on the music of Jim Steinman and more specifically the cover art of any of the Bat out of Hell albums.
Huge motorcycles, 70s era muscle cars, broken-down cities with monsters (human and supernatural) lurking in the shadows, with everything brilliantly over-the-top. Shit would be awesome.

This. I don't care what anybody says. CtD had a good system and a very interesting setting. The Kiths were varied and unique, and the splats gave you even more options to mess around with. Going into oWoD high fantasy style would be awesome.

Other than that, CtL, Dreaming Cities, Fae Noir, API. Exalted with Fair Folk allowed. Yes, I have a fae fetish. Deal with it.
