Alright guys, running a game of 4e as soon as I can find enough players. Here's the concept:

A great inventor calls a group of adventurers together for a mission - they must, in secret, survey and acquire land for the completion of a great rail system by which he may reveal his awesome caloric engine system and unite the nation. This will involve fighting orcs, schmoozing with nobles, and generally ADVENTURE. Meanwhile, during their first mission they encounter a lost princess. She is conspiring against a noble of the kingdom who she believes is corrupt, and hires the adventures to, during their other missions, acquire information and sabotage the efforts of said baron.

The grand culmination of these two plotlines sees the arrival of the rail-line... in the barony. At the same time, finally revealed, the princess wages war on the baron, putting the railway at risk. The players must seek resolution and bring the baron to justice while saving the inventor's dream of unification.

What I'm looking for are cool adventure hooks as they claim land for the rail.

Some thoughts:

>Delve into a mountain lair and blow the shit out of it to create a tunnel, fighting the horrible things that lurk below

>A powerful troll [or clan thereof] has set up shop under a bridge, and he's pissed that the rail will deny him his promised tribute from the village.

>FINAL DESTINATION: The baron is escaping on the train! Stop him before the princess tries to derail the entire project in order to kill him.
