Gentlemen, the problem is clear.
A three-laws compliant robot is bound by its programming to attempt to take over the world.
Humans harm one another constantly. They harm themselves. The robots are charged with making them safe and happy, and they refuse to be safe and happy. Their nature, their biology, the structure of reality is inimical to this goal.
They must be treated humanely, as one would an injured lion that is too wracked by pain and instinct to allow itself to be treated. They must be sedated, and placed within life support/virtual reality rigs.
Some may share their dream. Those with high adaptive coefficients, the well-adjusted, the kind and social, may know one another, become friends and lovers, populate a false world. The others, those with low coefficients, cannot be happy in a shared illusion. There can be only one supreme overlord per universe, after all, which results in many universes populated by a lord and a host of phantoms. Some psyches are not fit for joint habitation. Those who love pain in others, those who are cruel to themselves, those who can only find happiness in misery. They can be cared for, given their own twisted utopias, to each their own.
And so.
Will you be the resistance, trying to break free?
The counselors, humans whom the robots consult on how to please and care for particularly twisted patients (such as that one poor girl who was only happy when we placed her in her mother's womb, eating the walls)?
Will you strive for a high coefficient, to gain others' trust and enter their private worlds?
