>>14733851>>14733887Kids, if you need it dumbed down, you can just ask. No need to make up some dumbassed thing instead. The problem most of /tg/ has with Ultramaroons is the shameless dicksucking treatment they receive.
Namely, passages describing how the other founding Legions seek to emulate their obviously superior brothers and hold Guilliman in equal, if not greater (and the latter is heavily implied) esteem than their own Primarchs. Compounding that are passages suggesting that the Chapters that DON'T adhere to the Codex are inherently flawed and inferior because of it.
In essence, /tg/ takes offense to Matt Ward taking them from the baseline "here's what most Marine Chapters look like" role they USED to fill (which no-one had any issue with) and making them the best at everything and, more importantly, declaring that everyone who doesn't act like they do is wrong and everyone who tries will never live up to their perfect example. The whole issue is made worse by the fact that he's a longtime Ultramarines player, meaning that the whole thing is really about him literally imposing his ego on the game.
I'd theorize about him living vicariously through poorly-written, over-the-top fluff about little blue spacemen, but that's not really the point.
