Quick question: If the Emperor is the most powerful psyker ever to live by far, and if even pretty low level psykers can heal themselves (Not all of them, but then, as the uber-psyker the Emperor should have command of most if not all psychic abilities) then why didn't the Emperor just use his psyker powers to heal himself after his fight with Horus? Or why didn't they just get someone else to use their powers on him?

He couldn't.

Most of his power was expended in his two attacks (first to exorcise Horus, second to kill him), as he knew he had to kill Horus or the possession would return and Emperor would die easily.

We have full accounts of Emperor/Horus battle from 90's Lost and the Damned book and the 2000's Horus Heresy artbook, Emperor was all but finished psychically and physically after the battle.

As for Chaos Gods being afraid of him or him coming close to kill them, that's fanfiction. He always used two attacks to beat Horus, first to exorcise him, second to kill him before he's repossessed, allowing Horus to repent his deeds for a second.

Nobody really knows enough about the Emperor to use their own psychic abilities to try and heal him. They'd just get sucked in and wind up used to supplement the Emperor's will.

Daemons and the Chaos Gods refer to the Emperor as the Anathema - his existence is like death to them, and the greatest threat to their existence. They had to start the Heresy because they couldn't fight him head-on, and without stopping HIM they wouldn't be able to stop his Doctrine of Imperial Truth (and related stuff). He was too powerful for them, so they used Horus. Emps held back far too long against his son out of love, which was perhaps what the Chaos Gods planned all along. He stayed alive for a good bit afterwards, had to give people instructions on how to make the golden throne, a few final notes on how to run the empire, etc. And in that interval, either he could have recovered enough to heal himself, particularly after Malcador passed over that extra bit of psychic strength, or somebody else could have healed him.

It's always been that there was only one psychic blow at the very end that annihilated Horus' soul and body completely, and the chaos gods had to pull out of him before the power they had invested in him was wiped away with him. All four of the gods had pumped truly massive amounts of their power into Horus to let him compete with the Emperor and if the Emperor had wiped out the portions of them invested in Horus it would have been a big loss for each of them.

Not because the Emperor could beat them up in a psychic battle, but because of what the Emperor was trying to do - cut all knowledge of Chaos out of the galaxy by creating a dominant, secular Human empire. Which would in turn doom the galaxy, as no race that hadn't unified under Chaos would have the strength to resist the myriad of horrors in the galaxy. And should the dominant race fall, the Chaos Gods would find themselves starved of the emotions they need to survive. The Emperor's existance threatened the Chaos Gods, yes. Just not in the way he, or anyone else, expected.

One daemon (promoted from a mortal) refers to the Emprah as the Anathema and "one of the most powerful psychic presences during the history of life" in The First Heretic, but nothing like what you say (he could have ended the Chaos gods because of his personal power or that they were afraid of him instead of, say, being angry at him) was suggested. Also note "one of the most powerful", not "THE most powerful"

Or more accurately, being gods, they could not enter the Materium to battle him and used the most powerful pawn they could recruit to take him down. Absolutely nowhere is it suggested that he's more powerful than the Chaos Gods, in fact the accounts given (from Emperor's POV) of the final battle between him and Horus imply the opposite.

I just remembered some writefaggotry that i saw a while ago, and I can't find it anymore. It has all 4 chaos gods, slaanesh is younger, and one day he/she says something that makes the other gods tell stories about the past, and how the emperor made things a little less grimdark or something. I remember that the last line was something like "Suddenly, Chaos wasn't fun anymore."

anyone else know of it, and/or where to find it? This seemed like a good thread to ask.

Ever since Visions (the Horus Heresy art book series), the Golden Throne was constructed before the final battle over Terra. The Emperor left Horus to lead the Great Crusade because he was too busy cracking the abandoned Webway conduit on Earth with the goal of abandoning warp travel entirely once the technology was mastered.

The trouble is, the eldar abandoned that part of the Webway for a reason. It was damaged and unstable, so he Emperor had to reinforce it with psychic wards. Then, Magnus got the bright idea that he was going to use sorcery to warn the Emperor of Horus' betrayal; frying the wards around the portal with his spell.

So the Webway portal collapsed into a warp rift and daemons began flooding into the basement of the Imperial Palace. Custodes and Sisters of Silence fended them off, but it took an icredible psychic force to plug the hole. While the Emperor was off fighting Horus, Malcador the Sigilite sat on the Golden Throne, but the strain of it literally vaporized him. After the battle, the Emperor - wounded, but still very much alive, took up the station because he's the only one that can withstand the raw stuff of Chaos trying to push trough. He's been there ever since.

It's a retcon, yeah, but it's current and it's a lot better than him being on life support.

Remember, Horus had the power of the chaos gods on his side, he wasn't just attacking with physical weapons alone.

The only possibility for Emperor returning ever given are the Illuminati's plan to make a new body for him by sacrificing his immortal sons the Sensei (ancient fluff and not really mentioned since Rogue Trader) and the Thorians' attempts to do the same except without the Sensei. It's never been as simple as "pull the plug on Throne, Emperor comes back, everything is fine forever".

Cypher is just like Alpha Legion, no one knows what he is up to and GW leaves it intentionally mysterious, like the Lost Primarchs.

Fans have cooked up a million theories about him like all mysterious stuff, personally I think that a space marine with a sword resurrecting the Emperor is as valid as the theory about Lost Primarchs being sexy monstergirls.

wait what? the golden throne was constructed before he was mortally wounded, in fact his last order if memory serves me right was to let Malcador have the golden throne making him the new emperor of mankind but sadly Malcador couldn't handle being plugged into the machine so the emperors corps was plugged into it.

That's the current version of the story, but before Visions of Heresy was published Golden Throne was just a life support chair, there was no Malcador, Sisters of Silence, Imperial Webway or any of that stuff.
