See, I never understood 'signals' at first either, especially since at higher levels you have to shuffle the cards so you can't put "color I am not using on top, color I am using on bottom", but there ARE signals. Mostly.
If you pass me a pack of Rise, and I see Aura Gnarlid, and the next pack has a Snake Umbra, and the next has another Gnarlid, it's safe to assume that either you're not playing green, or there's REALLY GOOD green shit that you're picking up above those.
It's an inexact science, I'll admit, but it's mostly so you can anticipate what colors you ought to be running, since you won't be getting color X or Y from the guy on your right. And your 'signals', like passing a great red card, tell the guy on your left that you aren't in red, so he knows what to pass [or not to pass, if he hate-drafts] in pack 2
I usually try not to think too deep into it. I just see good cards, and take them.
