>what is the appeal?
Blood angels have a story to them, more interesting than the other chapter, I started with chaos daemons, amd continually lost, picked up tyranids, won a lot of games, but they weren't fun, I saw the assault marine models and decided to pick up blood angels, since they're the only chapter that has them as troops. I doubt I'll even try vanilla marines.
>why do you read the books?
I don't, sorry, well, outside the codex I don't, but then again, I own all the codexes, good reading material, I have an old 3rd edition rulebook in my bathroom in the magazine basket
>why do you collect them of all races?
They're the most versatile in terms of weapons, not to mention you can easily convert tactical squads into assault squads, not to mention that I'm not fond of elvish things like the eldar/dark eldar, and I'm not fond of the tau, or the design of the orks. I have a shit-ton of tyranids and 3 units of every chaos daemon too, so I don't collect just space marines.
>what makes them popular?
Well, the weapons, the vehicles, the flexibility, they're great for beginners too. It's true that a lot of 12-16 year olds play and muddy things up, and mostly men play them, but, since a lot of other women play tyranids and sisters of battle, I enjoy not falling into the stereotype, and I plan on trying to get my son to play when he's older.
