So I'm running a DnD/Pathfinder campaign where the premise is that the last group of adventurers who saved the world, did so at a cost. They defied fate and saved the world. The world was *meant* to end. Fate's been seriously fucked up, and this is a time now that was not meant to be.

So what I need are temporal themed monsters. Besides the Phane from the Epic Handbook, I can't think of any. The idea is that the world has now gone rudderless and there's no more fate, and thus all sorts of may-have-beens and never-weres are crawling out of rifts and wreaking havoc.

TL;DR: What are some temporal and time-themed monsters in DnD 3.5/Pathfinder?

Anyway, aside from Inevitables, which sound like prime candidates for use, there's a bunch of creatures in teh beginning of the PF Bestiary 2 that may well fit what you want, the Aeons.

Most of the Aberations should work well for you, the wierder ones like the Gibbering Mouthers and the like especially. Also, take a look at the Mindflayers' fluff in Lords of Maddness and see how it fits into the setting that you've created.

Giving monsters or enemies time-stop or temporal jaunt effects might also help this along. I don't have the DL location for it, but I would also suggest looking up the Chronomancer from 2nd edition, of which had lots of information on time-related magic.

OH, and Chokers. Extra standard actions can really screw folks over if used right.

Any given abberation works, too, as do normal creatures given abberation traits or abilities they should very well not have.
Take well-known monsters, change crucial traits of their abilities. Make a medusa with a gaze attack that does something drastically different. Aquatic creatures that swim through the ground.

Make sure you mention in the descriptions that these are things that should not exist, and you should be good.

And most importantly of all, make sure you include a few perfectly ordinary creatures from time to time, just to keep them guessing about what crazy shit will happen next.

Monsters that are really bad at combat, but can rewind time just by a second to readjust what they did, over and over again. As such, they are nearly unbeatable because anything that is physically possible to dodge, they will. Make sure the players experience the time warp, and make it agonizing to go through.

Monsters that go around, sucking the time out of people. Sort of like vampires, except you don't get grow back more time.

Cheap and easy: clones of the party, with a twist

one character hears soft ticking constantly.
Whenever she tries to investigate, the source moves.

When people die, they don't decompose normally. Rather, they rewind, their dead bodies getting younger and younger until they turn into embryos and disappear.

NPCs never seem to follow logic. They get cause and effect very mixed up.

The sun goes backwards across the sky one day. It's colder in the sunlight. Another day, the whole world could be upside down. Another, the world is on the inside of a hollow sphere, no sky. Another time the sun is out at night and the moon is out at day.

I was going to post about that crazy campaign where us two players ended up with a Craftworld-sized interplanar vessel where we went Noah's Ark in DnD, because we had released Chaos and he was omnomnom'ing the Multiverse plane by plane. Our vessel saved mortals and gods, and most everything else too; so in the end time, the Gods summoned the oldest of them all, Chronos, who sent us PCs back to the time we freed Chaos.

So now we're seven levels earlier, and there are cracks in the fabric of the Multiverse, because the Watchers hate multiversal retcons, and they're after us...
