Believe it or not after seeing that particular story I went down to the Local GW and actually questioned the validity and consistency of writing and fluff in the codex pointing out several WTF moments and paying no heed to my hatred of the rules.

After I explained my views and beliefs I calmly put the book down and waited for his response.

His exact response. "You shouldn't be playing this hobby for the fluff, play it for how awesome the models are and how balanced the rule system is."

Part of me wants to believe that you did that, because it's kind of awesome that people so utterly bizarre, who do not give a single fuck how completely ridiculous other people find them, exist. But there's another part of me which is just saying... no. Nobody would do that. Comic book guy is a Simpsons character, but this is real life.

I tried my hardest to keep on the topic that fluff is important to any system because it is ultimately the story that drags us into this mess.

Sadly yes eventually I broke and asked him how he felt about certain...'issues' within the game included indeed the ones that you pointed out.

The conversation even went into what I believed to be the 'golden' age of gaming for GW when Andy Chambers was Chief Editor and as a big 'AWESOME' to his fans included stuff like mini games, counters and extra cards (like imperial tarot) for us.

I've never hit a stone wall so hard in my life, not even when I smashed my face into a stone wall in primary school.

He went so far as to call Andy a talentless hack that betrayed GW and works with the and I quote "Buttfucking idea stealing enemy."

In the end he just put on his 'Im so totally right face.' and ignored me for his book at the counter, which in my mind is TOTALLY unprofessional of a retail salesman.

After that I just sat down with a bunch of painters and talked about painting, the one aspect of the hobby that so far has not had bullshit rules added to it.

What I always wondered was this:

If the Sisters did indeed have such unbreakable Chaos-resistant faith, isn't that more a testament to their strength of mind rather than the purity of their plasma?

Ok, he did create the C'tan, but that is not nearly enough to put him on the level of Gav Thorpe and Alessio, even if he had put Kerrigan in 40k it wouldn't be close.

I actually didn't even discover that Andy Chambers had worked on Blizzard's Starcraft 2 until I had finished the game and watched the Collector's Ed documentary.

I liked Starcraft 2 as a game and him working on it didnt affect my like or dislike of it, but I did find it awesome that he was still working on stuff.

They killed sisters because marines don't worship the emprah as a god, never did, and aren't capable of it, because of who they themselves are.

So since they have no magical faith powers, they slay those that do, and use the emprah's own magic powers to forge them into bloody talismans for their armor, thereby making them immune to warp powers that turn terminators into liquid blood.

I really, really, really don't see the problem with this. It's just a way to show their pragmatism, and how you get around the usual 'marines don't have faith in the emprah's divinity.'

Learn to fluff, n00bs.

I've always wondered - how come the Sisters of Battle are always portrayed as incredibly zealous in a setting that is heavily influenced by medieval Catholic church. Women were seen as lesser in faith in those times, always, and yet, they are the paragon of incorruptibility in 40k as opposed to being actually easier seduced by evil.

Just a little bit that I've always found curious and that has resurfaced during the current herpaderp around GK codex.

The main point is that in much of the fluff in the book, it commonly states that the Greyknights are incorruptible due to their skeletons, their faith (YES FAITH) and their awesome mental powers.

That story SPITS on that by saying they were wetting their pants so hard that they had to slaughter sisters of battle to merely ward themselves YET AGAIN.

That is the fluff we are having problems with, not the we can make awesome talismans and what not.
