Hey /tg/, I'm thinking of starting to play 40k with a friend of mine and a few people he plays with. I don't know much about it at all, but I'm thinking about playing either Orks or Tyranids. What's a good starting army for either of those races? I was at the only shop in town that carries them and they had enough Tyranids for two troop choices and an HQ, but the Orks were pretty lacking, just Shoota Boyz and a Trukk. The Tyranids I was looking at picking up were the Hive Tyrant for the HQ, a box of Genestealers and a box of Termagants with maybe a Lictor that they had. Now, I know that's not enough points to play my friend's 1000 point army, but he said he could point down for me.

Short end of the story, what's a good starting Ork army and are my Tyranid choices good enough for a basic starting army?
