Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy

I bought Rogue Trader earlier this week and we're having a blast with it. I regretted, at first, having to choose between the Rogue Trader and Dark Heresy core rulebooks but seeing that the characters can be carried over I'm newly excited. I've got the money, so I can buy Dark Heresy right out, but I'm also interested in the expansion source books.

What books should I get to keep the fun experience going? "All of 'em" sounds a bit stupidly simple. I want to know if there's any book in particular to REALLY look into and introduce to my friends.

for DH you really want the inquisitors hand book and maybe the radical's if your player's want to do sorcery. Most everything else can be gotten off of dark reign.

It's pretty much the same thing as inquisitor's only with more of a church theme. More fluff and less armory basically.

The rules for sanctifying things seems more cleric territory for me. Also there's also those home worlds and elite advance stuff I guess

Nothing really you might need to keep the book around for every game for like the inquisitor's or core book though

More or less. Things like class advance lists, talents/traits, and psyker powers are probably going to be the things you'll keep having to go back to the book to check after you've learned the game, and those books are what contain them

On a somewhat unrelated note you should also probably consider getting into the habit of giving cheap elite advances for most of the basic skills. The classes are kind of annoyingly restrictive for that in the earlier ranks

So I have a ganger who has survived an orbital lance strike while palling around with an Ork Warboss (in the process his two-handed baseball bat was upgraded to have an axe blade made out of a license plate and covered in slugga shells which explode on a damage roll of nat 10), he beat the shit out of one Ascended crusader PC at like 15,000 XP in power armour, with a power fist, killed another PC that was at 10,000 XP with a vanilla gun servitor that had an assault stubber, got a Dark Pact with a daemonhost that gave him amazing driving skills (he never gets negative modifiers) and has an eight feet tall, faceless sloth-bear with Fear 2 called Sir Fuzzington.

Gentlemen, I have made Doomrider: The Prologue.

Addendum: The ganger is 6,000 XP and has the luck of the Dice Gods.

Clarification: The Ascended PC had power armour and the powerfist.

He survived the orbital strike by having the Warboss fling a piece of rebar at a Valkyrie, which pierced the armour and hung from it, so Throttle held onto the warboss' back while leaped up, grabbed the metal and tore the door off, after the Warboss smashed the controls because he couldn't work out how to use it, we tore off one of the engines and flew off on it.

OH, another note: The gun servitor is called Beepsky.

He is the law.

He's now being hunted down by the hive world's equivalent of Colonel Radec from Killzone and a 40,000 XP monodominant Sister of Battle Inquisitor who thinks he must be some ungodly powerful daemon-powered psycho.
