I've just had a go at making my first nid' list for a 1000 pts. Now I am a real noob, so try to be kind, but im aware of where i am :"D

--HQ--
Tyranid Prime - Rending claws, Lashwhip+Bonesword, Toxin sacs - 105 points

--Elites--
3 x Hive Guard - 150 points
2 x Zoenthropes w/ Mycetic spore (vanilla) - 180 points

--Troops--
3 x Tyranid Warriors - Pair of Boneswords, Rending claws, Toxin sacs - 135 points

Tervigon - Adrenal Glands, Toxin sacs, Cluster spines, Catalyst - 195 points

10 x Termagants - 50 points

and since genestealers have the same Strenght and also rending, as well as hive guards AND zoans, i really think you can drop those claws

the prime alone should be enough to ensure they aren't stuck with a walker forever

lol my main worry was AT if im honest. So replace the claws with wut?

and wouldnt giving the tervi catalyst mean it could hold out? How would i solve that? another MC?

Ditch the warriors. Unless you have a list specialized to take advantage of their stats, they are just a points sink.

Either break your unit of Genestealers into 2 units of six or just drop half of them. Six genestealers + Broodlord and Toxin Sacs is enough to wreck anything in CC. Infiltrate them, keep them in cover, and you'll murder.

Unless your meta is REALLY, REALLY armor heavy, you probably don't need the Zoanthropes and the 3 Hive Guard.

As noted, if your only MC is the Tervigon, every gun your opponent can find will be pointed at it until it is a bloody hunk of dead. I'd recommend ditching the Zoeys and adding in a Trygon or Trygon Prime.

Yeah, his gun is only Str 5, but he gets 12 shots which is more than enough to cause a few saves on an infantry unit or shake a transport.

Ditch the Prime and add in another Tervigon. The more MCs you can throw at your opponent, the better your odds are of actually getting to use them.

The Tyranid Prime would be better with Scything Talons than Rending Claws. Also, Adrenal Glands rather than Toxin Sacs. You ignore saves already, so the rending isn't too useful, and bumping your Initiative on the charge lets you strike before most characters and hopefully kill them first.

Elites looks fine. Consider dropping the Zoanthropes and Pod for another Monstrous Creature though, and split the Hive Guard up so they can divide their fire.

The Warriors would be better off with Talons rather than Claws, or perhaps Deathspitters to take advantage of the BS4 given to them by the Prime. I'd also go with Adrenal Glands, again mostly for I5 on the charge.

Everything else looks fine.

well i was figuring on sticking the prime with the warriors and figuring on them being and out and out cc unit.

so drop the thropes' and try and get a trygon or sommat in there ... hmmm

If you're looking for the points to get a Trygon, dropping the Zoanthropes gets you most of the points. A genestealer or two is a relatively painless cut and should get you the rest.
