Is there a statistically best way to find out how much land to use for ones MTG deck?

Also, are there any good special lands for mono-blue?

You usually need 20-24 land in a 60-card deck. one land for every 2 nonland, nonmana-producing spell is a decent rule. Adjust this for less lands if your average mana cost is under 3, adjust higher if it's over 3. Playtest. Repeat.

Starting point: You want enough lands so that you can drop a land every turn until you can cast the highest-costing spell in your deck.

Next point: You want enough Mana Sources (Sol Ring, Mind Stone, Darksteel Ingot) so that you can cast the best things in your deck.

Last point: You want enough mana sources so that you don't get frustrated with your deck. Stop theory crafting, PLAY YOUR FUCKING DECK and...when you realize you are getting too little/many lands/sources, ACTUALLY FUCKING CHANGE THE DECK.
