>>14751089That's hardly Tolkein talking. Apocalyptic world-fate-deciding good versus evil battle have been showing up since long before Revelations.
Here's something fun, though. Check out the Scars of Mirrodin and Mirrodin Beseiged spoilers, and take a look at everybody. Victory's Herald, "The corruption stirred the heavens above, awaking a shining champion"? Nope, didn't work. She's dead, and she and the army she led was smashed into pieces and melted down into horrors. Hero of Oxid Ridge, valiantly riding his steed of metal flame into battle against the coming onslaught? He was killed, his bones melted into some horror's faceplate, and his horse forged into a torture device. Ardent Recruid, "We lost our homes and our kin. We won't let those rotters take our future as well"? Oh god, just kill yourself now OH WAIT YOU AND ALL YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEAD. Not even the creatures, the pictures to. Oh, look, somebody's holding a trigon meant to sustain life? Both it and its holder were run through a meat grinder and drained into vats to become growth medium for five-legged horrors.
Really, not like Tolkien one bit.
