401.M34 The Howling
Black Templar Space Marines end the Catelexis Heresy by executing the Cacodominus, an alien cyborg whose formidable psychic presence allowed it to control the populace of thirteen hundred planetary systems. Alas, the Cacodominus’ death scream echoes and amplifies through the Warp, burning out the minds of a billion astropaths and distorting the signal of the Astronomicon. Millions upon millions of ships are lost in the resulting upheaval and entire sub-sectors slide into barbarism without the dictats of the Adeptus Terra to guide them.

>alien cyborg
>mind control 130,000 inhabited systems
>billion astropaths burned out when it dies
>millions upon millions of ships are lost
>entire subsectors slide into barbarism

Now consider

>Approx number of hive worlds in the Imperium: 323,800

This seems like kind of a very bad thing, even by the scale of 40k. Especially since it happened in the middle of M34, long after the great crusades. Is it EVER mentioned again?
