Then again, my GW wargame experience is a bit dated, and I vaguely recall the "quality" armies not being that much better than the "horde" armies, so I am admittedly a bit foggy on exactly how often a "quality" unit firing on a mook will hit on 1s...
In any case, the more dice you roll, the more likely their results are to line up with the expected distribution. Conversely, the fewer dice you roll, the less likely they are to perfectly match up to their expected distribution. That is, the fewer models you have on the table, the more important luck is in terms of influencing the outcome.
This is not, of course, to say that you're more likely to be lucky. It just means that the performance of those five terminators can't really be relied on to match statistical expectations in any given turn anyways thanks to the small sample size.
