Last night while baked my friend and his friend played Yi Gi Oh. I have never touched a card game before. I wish to beat both of them.
They both play slightly modified versions of a structured deck?? One plays Zombie World and the other plays Spellcaster's judgement.
I was recommended to buy a structured deck and just buy other cards to go with.
I like the look of Machine re-volt deck, is this bad? I have never played Yu gi oh before. What are the rules...

Get the Monarch deck. A good Macro Monarch can be tough to deal with.

Machine re-volt has a lot of tools that can give a casual deck a lot of trouble when properly modified.

The most easily assembled strategy would be turbo gadgets. Ultimate offering allows you to normal summon as many gadgets as you like, then do as you like with them. An easy outlet would be summoning ancient gear dragon. Going this route would require three copies of ultimate offering, a ridiculously overprinted common, and two copies of the structure deck should give you enough pieces. Just steal three offerings from our friends, they probably wouldn't even notice.

Zombie world has one major weakness. The deck can't go above 2400 attack points and depends heavily on removal or swarming to win. Don't get greedy, sit on a monster with over 2400 attack and watch the deck just lose.

If the zombie player has actually cobbled a decent deck, he is probably running a lot of card advantage engines. The good zombie tools are cheap, so this is probably the case if he collects at all. To beat this, don't count cards, count 2450 or higher attack threats against his removal.

Card of safe return is banned. If he uses it, declare yourself the winner. Do not play against him if he refuses to remove it from his deck.

The spellcaster deck has many ways of hitting high attack power, but low card advantage ability. Swarming the field with gadgets and attacking everything will prevent him from tribute summoning something fierce. Unless the player is good, he is still probably running the situational monsters with very restrictive special summon requirements. These monsters can be horribly hosed by scrap iron pitfall or compulsory evacuation device. Save your removal for threats and use your monsters to maintain board control.

Finally, the Zombie World structure deck, as packaged, has absolutely no way to win against stardust dragon. The dragon is about $8, so it's worth it to just win occasionally without any effort.

If your friends insist on using forbidden cards, play tribe-infecting virus. It was printed as a common, and wipes the field of any type at the cost of two cards, then one for each additional wipe. Witch of the black forest can fetch it. Soon they will beg to be able to use the forbidden list.

I have fairly unlimited funds (I work ect).
I'll ebay myself two re-volt decks. Aside from Ultimate offering, any other cards you recommend I pick up?
After some googling I came across,
Power Tool Dragon
and a card called Solidarity,
Worth being in my deck?
Also would 'geartown' and alike have any relevance in a re-volt deck?

It has 2500 attack, which might as well be infinite against zombies. It can tribute itself to negate any destruction effect, then it becomes special summoned again. Zombies just can't kill it.

Here are a list of automatic include cards for your deck.

monster reborn
dark hole
mystical space typhoon x2
torrential tribute

Here are some great cards you should get and almost certainly use
swords of revealing light
call of the haunted

You will also need some tuners. I forgot to include that. You don't need a lot, but synchro summoning can just ruin a casual deck. Blackwing, gale the whirlwind is probably the best generic tuner.
