I want to make a spruecron starter pack /tg/

One of my bro and I bought a Black Reach box between us to start playing 40k (I got orks and he's marine). Now another bro want to join. We figured the cheapest way is for him to buy a necron codex and we make him a spruecron starter pack for him.

I don't have any necron miniatures I can reference off so I want to ask, what are necron warrior proportion like? Are they about the same height as marines and just skeletal?

Also /tg/, what would be a good starter pack spruecron force look like? For reference the ork and space marine list from AoBR are:

Ork (450):
Warboss + Power Klaw
5 Nobs
20 Slugga boys, 2 with big shoota
3 Deffkoptas with TL rokkit launcha

if you're going to get into the hobby without actually using the actual miniatures, which is arguably the whole point of warhammer 40k, then you may as well just print off pictures of necrons and play with them.

It's for a 3rd friend, the three of us play DoW2 together. We bought Black Reach box between the two of us and now he says he would give it a try. But he's not yet convinced he will play in the long term so we are trying to ease him into it.

What's the point of Spruecrons? Just use stick pictures of crons onto some empty bases, just as effective and a lot less hassle if your gonna be cheap.

buy a pack of multi coloured blue tack, and get some small coins the size of bases. Temporary proxies that cost pretty much nothing and will take a tenth of the time the spruecrons would. If he likes it, he should get a battleforce. Also, with this method he could try out different armies.

I don't know, I guess it's just the whole "bits of junk everybody ignores suddenly rising out of the ground into an army of undeath" look, goes well with Necron. I'll paint these guys rust brown.

The damn buggers are hard to make if you want a natural pose. Took me like 2 hours just then to make my first warrior.

Anyway I know Necron are probably the most underpowered army at the moment, so against a 585 point space marine army how much points worth of a Necron army would allow an even match?

point values are always level. If you play a 1000 point game, both armies must have 1000 points worth of units and you pick and choose units and gear until you hit that limit.

As for spruecrons, trust me, it ain't as easy as it looks and necrons are a pretty shitty army regardless. Here's a tip, this is something I did with a friend when we wanted to playtest units we didn't own yet to see how effective they are with our personal strategies and playstyles:

Get a sheet of cardstock (like a divider in school files), a base of each size (troop base, elite base etc) and trace the outline of the bases on the cardstock with a pen or whatever. Cut them out and you'll have base-sized tokens. Simply write on them to distinguish them as whatever unit you want and voila.

Basically, you'll be playing the most hardcore game of tiddlywinks ever.

It takes a whole lot more models for Orks to equal marines in points if you're using boyz. From a production perspective, it would cost GW more to include more boyz. Consider the fact that points-wise, one terminator is worth almost 7 boyz, and there are 5 terminators in the black reach box.
