Lots of Guns.
Its expensive, but they are terrifying, nothing is as horrific as a Dreg Knight charge, or bordering around the side and smashing 2, 3 blunderbusts on the enemy then gaining XP for it.
They can be right bastards if you armour them on the horse, and they can keep up with the vampire.
IF you aim right, you can subvert the whole shambling horde thing using Dire Wolves, Horses and Ghouls, which can leave the enemy reeling if they're not expecting you to sprint across the board and fuck them up in a few turns.
Definetly go for horses for the Dregs though, it lets you have a shock troop option to back up your Vampire, instead of leaving him on his lonesome.
