Sort of OT:
I'm working on some original fiction with a god that, by all rights, is a Khorne expy. God of rage, killing, war, referred to as a god of chaos, lives in the warp, gives the most powerful of his berserkers the ability to 'warp spasm', etc. However, I've given him my own twist: he is significantly more pleased by a follower killing for his own purposes than he is by a follower killing to please him. He sees the latter as toadying to him, and he only wants to see men with strong, independent spirits. To kill one man for your own purposes pleases him as much as slaying an entire village to please him. However, many of his followers aren't smart enough/too afraid of their own god to realize this and run around screaming "Blood for the Blood God" and slitting every throat they see.
Furthermore, he does not care for what reasons you kill, similar to how Khorne 'cares not about from where the blood flows, only that it it flows'. One of the protagonists is a berserker who takes this god as his patron. He spent most of his life killing the strongest opponents he could fine because it was fun and it made him into a true champion. He joined the 'good guys' side because he found that he got a nice feeling when he fought to defend innocents. However, most of the gods followers that become enlightened to his true nature aren't so nice: if you could kill anyone you wanted and have your god approve of it, you probably would turn into an evil, murderous bastard.
Any tips on characterizing the god and his followers?
