What's the difference between the factions, crunch-wise? I've looked through the website and all, and there's just fluff. From what I've heard, it's something like:
Prussians: Close combat guys, tesla coils on every fucking vehicle just because that's steampunk is all about apparently (and yet they have blimps, something that Tesla wasn't that fond of. His proposed flying machines were VTOL crafts with rotating rotors.)

FSA: More of the same, but with giant automatic cannons instead of Tesla-coils.

Blazing Sun: Long distance. Also tentacles and random pagodas. Because it's Japan.

Britannia: Failed attempt at making a balanced faction, which instead resulted in one that's not particularly good at anything.

Is any of this correct? And why do they call it *Dystopian* Wars when the world appears to be much nicer than our 19th century? Hunger being reduced by genetically engineered cattle, better medical technology, bloody infantry warfare more or less obsolete and so on.

The Blazing Sun has very long range, 360, rocket turrets. The brits can take multiple shield generators, while maintaining strong offense with torpedo salvos.
This is what I've got from reading the book so far. The tiny flyers also seem to be able to make a huge difference. What's pushing me towards the japs is the torpedo bombers which can attack from 8" away, and force re-roll on concussion charges.

I know, and I don't really mind that it's not pure GRIMDARK. But if their goal was to do a "dystopian" setting, they kinda missed. Just saying.

I'm pretty sure the Dystopian refers to the entire world being at war which is the opposite of a utopia in which there presumably is no violet conflict.
Kinda redundant with the word War though.
They could have just called it Dystopia.

I've started my FSA fleet and played a few games. So far I like it because of the I move a ship and fire then you move a ship and fire type of play. Things I've noticed

-Prussians are really good, may become more balanced as more of the figs are released
-the fuel mechanics for tiny flyers are clunky as hell
-Brittiania are chumps at boarding and get schooled when boarded
-Flyers as a whole are overpowered and need a good counter.

fun game and great figs though

Kinda wish they had, Dystopian Wars is a bit of a mouthful. I'm on the fence about this game. The models look pretty cool, but I'm waiting to see if there will actually be any people to play with, and if they'll release a new faction that I really want to play. As it is now, the existing factions are okay to me. There's no model I really dislike, but there's no love at first sight either.
