Hey /tg/, my friend gave me a box of his old miniatures today.

Browsing through, it inspired a lot of nostalgia, as well as endless fits of laughter (you'll see why).

So, let's have a thread about 'Embarrassing /tg/ related things you done as a child'.

Post pictures of old miniatures, or stories.

Bumping with what I find and some of my old attempts at conversions.

Hmm... a few things, though I guess I didn't ever think of them as /tg/ related at the time.

One, when I was a kid, I was huge into Mechwarrior 2. There was a point where I wanted to run faster, so I tried putting my arms up in this silly position to attempt to do so. Later, I tried squatting lower to the ground in an attempt to emulate a Nova, as they were fucking fast in MW2 and able to jet everywhere.

Alternately, I remember a time even further back where I was playing with my then best friend using action figures. Batmans and Ninja Turtles abounded, and we fought against some sort of villain I can't remember. However, a lot of our playing became "I hit you - no you didn't". I remember trying to sculpt a way around this in my 7-year-old mind, making up ideas for "Strength points" and "Aim points", trying to figure out how to use them from there, eventually thinking I should use one of those arrow spinners that came with simple board-games. Eventually, the thought of the work left me overwhelmed at the work I'd have to put into it, and my best friend said that it was too confusing and we should just play with action figures. I continued playing with my ninja-turtles, halfheartedly.

I really liked playing pretend (part of the reason I got interested in RPG), me and me buddies loved playing Jurrassic Park pretend.

One of us pretended s/he was a dinossaur and the rest ran like hell from him/her. There was a fat kid who was REALLY good at sneaking at us. He was also really good at a proto-DMing that got us in the mood for the game (usually scared shitless).

I hope he plays RPG. He moved from our school , and I never saw him again.

On a unrelated note, my first RPG book was acquired at age 14/15...A supplement about demons. O course I was quickly labbeled as a witch and a satanist by my classmates. Not really a kid-thing, but still one of the earliest directly /tg/ related story I remember.

I never found any joy in the Fire Moth's derpy arms. Only derpiness. I really couldn't appreciate the whole mech that much until in a more ripe age.

when I was a kid, 10 or 11. I would go over to a school friends house and play action figures. he-man, transformer, that kind of stuff. one time he said he wanted to play a game. we went into the closet and got naked. then, I sucked his dick while jerking on mine. we did that a couple more times that year. that summer my family moved to another duty station. at the time I didn't mind but looking back it was kind of messed up. I've never told another soul about it.

the first army i ever made was ultramarines. not because they were easy to paint though, i actually hand painted the squad numbers and such (it looked like total shit though) but i played them because they had the most special characters associated with their chapter, and i in my newbishness thought that playing Tigerius in a dark angels army would be akin to playing the nightbringer in a chaos army. so yeah. that.

I convinced some of my friends and even just other kids from school that I can do magic and see future and told them I can tech it, but I also warned them about the dark side.
They were patient in hearing how dangerous and bad it is and how they shouldn't use it to hurt someone or the karma is punishment. And after all told the way and the word how to do it, they started using it to kill each other. Two brothers, especially.
I also told a guy that he is a really werewolf and he seriously wanted for the full moon all hyped up to transform and kill people.

I was about ten then. I knew so many autists as a kid, I can't and don't want to count them.

I did attended to a catholic school, but it was more likely that the school was actually full of idiots.

The bullying got really easy to handle after I was officially declared able to kill people through voodoo, though. So I can't say I didn't enjoyed not even a single bit my new-found "schools status".

Me and my friends used to create substitution ciphers all day, erryday. Passed notes around in our easily crackable "secret codes", got called geeks and nerds almost daily. Then I moved away.

I remember back in Primary school when someone I knew in the year above me had us all play warhammer, no not the tabletop game but actually pretend we were in the universe shooting things and riding around on stolen DE jetbikes etc.

now that I think about it my first exposure to warhammer was from a friend who I watched put together some chaos marines (I think) when I was no older than 9.

Riding bicycles with my friend as fast as we can in a camp ground making star wars speeder bike noises and laser gun sounds.

Pretending to be an AT-ST on the sidewalk in the front of my house. I would stomp ants and go "pew pew pew" pretending they were ewoks. I probably looked retarded to the neighbors.

My friend made a Cobra flag *GI Joe* out of some fabric and we made ourselves the leaders of all the 10 year old boys at the campground *we had at least 5-10 different kids following us*. We took over the local play area fort and put up our flag as we gathered buckets of water and squirt guns. Then we ordered Ben to go tell the 13 year old girls that we gathered in part of the park that we declared war on them. About an hour later tons of scary 13 year old girls with squirt guns were spotted by our scouts approaching from the woods. We sent Ben off to his death below to greet them. We snickered as we watched him scream as they all shot him. Suddenly me and my friend chickened out as we saw we were clearly outmatched *they had a bunch of 8 year old girls bringing a steady supply of water belows from the pool area* and decided to leave the fort. I think we put some random kid in charge of the fort and said we had to go on a secret mission. We watched the amazing battle unfold from the safety of a tree. Little boys were screaming everywhere as giant teenager girls sieged the fort. Epic.

I remember when EVERY SINGLE playground I visited was a castle in my head.

(pic related, a popular playground model back then)

And I played King/Queen/Knight/Dragon/Princess/everything medieval on them. I ussually played alone (or with my siblings and relatives when I was with them) but once I managed to get a King, a Queen and a bunch of Knights to obey their bidding, all kids I've never met before.

Too bad it took us so long to decide on everyone's role that I had to leave like 5 minutes after we got started. Shoot!

At day care, we all used to pretend to be Batman characters. We would jump around, swing from jump ropes, rescue reporters, etc. One day, I was the Joker, but even in first grade interparty drama existed.

See, I'd beaten up the kid who was Batman just a few weeks earlier for stealing toys and bullying my little brother. So when I was standing on top of a jungle gym, and he decided to sweep my leg out from under me. It was only about one and a half times my height, but to me it felt like pic related.

The fall broke my skull and my brain hemorrhaged. I guess you could say that Batman doesn't kill, he just maims. And maims, and maims, and maims.
