>>15413549But the thing is, Tech Priests have the most efficient way of helping out the human race.
The fact that they're probably sitting on a C'tan aside, they control all the Imperium's technology. One of the greatest problems the Imperium has is technology dispersion, how some worlds are medieval-era and others are bustling literal hives of activity. Tech Priests can take near-golden age technology to the places that need it most, upgrade them, and make them able to stand on their own as shining stars of the Imperium.
If anyone else tried to do something of this magnitude of importance to the Imperium, they would fail. A psycher would open a portal to the warp eventually, a scum just wouldn't have the ability, and a guardsman would be treated as dispensable by those in power. The only thing that could potentially compete would be a well-off Rogue Trader.
I would play a Noblebright brilliant priest of the Imperium, one who was willing to sacrifice his own flesh so that the others of the galaxy may know the power of the height of mankind.
I think I may have a problem playing grimdark characters.
