I was reading about how Hover Craft, when on a hill, will slide down the hill very very fast and not easily controlled... then my Mek brain kicked in...

Similar yes and no. Because a hover craft repels itself off the surface, it technically has no resistance to the surface (well, rather, a significantly less resistance.)

Thus if you go down a hill in a hover craft, you will lose control (unless you are VERY good at losing control) and crash at the bottom of the hill (lip will dig down into the upcoming flat surface.)

However, Ork logic + sphere = you are always on top of the sphere (hill) and thus you will always go down.

There-for, while similar to orbit mechanically, this is not orbital principle as orbital principle would have you high enough that you fall without hitting an object. Where-as hover craft are repelling themselves and have no means to easily stop their downward motion.

Both work by gravity, but Ork logic would not function with a sphere because the actual "downward" pull is from inside the sphere, not in-front/down hill from the sphere.

Ergo: This is not orbital logic but Ork logic.

Mechanically yeah, orbit is nothing like what OP is proposing, but the theories are similar.
