>>23336193Leg armour was often light or reduced for mobility but the head is the most universally protected part, if nothing else soldiers always go for helmets in pre-modern warfare. And there are a range of helmets that prevent you being brained from behind without compromising vision.
The magic thing depends on the game, in many systems a fireball hitting a suit of plate will not do much damage as it prevents the fire directly burning him unless its a powerful spell. And its not much good either way if you get stabbed in the kidneys by a goblin before you meet any wizards.
If you wanted mobility and visibility while still being protected I would suggest something like stout leather boots and padded cloth leggings, padded cloth and maybe some mail/flexible leather over the top for the arms with gauntlets to protect the hands and then a plate cuirass. For the head an open faced barbute or a kettle helm would prevent you being knocked out easily by head injuries but prevent too much loss of vision.
