All my advice assumes the High Guard version of the Mongoose Trav Rules.
Beam Lasers are your basic civilian weapon. They do 1d6 of damage, are medium range and cost a million credits for the basic version.
Pulse lasers are more powerful doing 2d6 damage, but are short range and less accurate, having a -2 DM penalty to the attack.
Particle beams are a military weapon, doing 3d6 damage as well as an automatic crew radiation hit, they are long range weapons. However, it takes a triple turret to mount a single particle beam.
Missile Launchers are a versatile weapon, having a variety of missile types available.
Basic Missile: 1d6 damage, cheap.
Smart Missile: 1d6 damage, more expensive, but rolls 2d6 vs 8+ regardless of the gunner and keeps attacking until it hits, is destroyed, or runs out of fuel/power.
Nuclear Missile: 2d6 damage + automatic crew radiation hit. Military weapon, civilian ownership is prohibited.
Long Range Missile: 1d6-1damage, while all missiles can reach any range band, Long range missiles are called so because they have a high-thrust drive and get there faster.
Multi-warhead Missile: Does 1d6 damage 1d6 times. You might consider this a closer range missile as it has weaker thrust drive and takes longer to hit enemies at range.
Finally there is the Sandcaster, a defensive weapon that reduces the damage of an incoming beam attack by 1d6.
