Dear eloquen/tg/entlemen ,can I have your attention?!

Please post your ideas for stats and rules for minor xeno races that GW named , wrote a line of background for and abandoned. Bonus points for art/model pics and good fluff explanations for the rules.

Let me start:
Viskeon - 40k equivalent of Predator, bounty hunters and mercenaries ,thanks to Eldrad their planet was OMNOMNOMed by Tyranids , their warrior code does not allow them to use ranged weaponry, can regenerate whole body from one body part and spit acid.

caraphace armour , two close combat weapons (all in profile)

furious charge, infiltrate , regenerate (p.33 tyranid codex- tyranids probably can do it because they ate Viskeon)

You mean umbra? I think they should have some of the daemon rules- their bodies are only partially in our universe and partially in warp (the shadows are portals for the other part)

Umbra are fucking awesome. I use house fluff that explains how they exist as quantum potentials and hence their weakness to light or being "observed". However, don't blink, not even for a second, because they can do anything the moment you can't see them.

The Kresh (space kobolds)

Small reptilians roughly the size of a ratling. They dwell aboard immense space hulk like ships that hide in the nooks and crannies of the galaxy, generally out on the eastern fringe or amongst the halo stars, where the light of the astronomican is weakest. They do so not only because they wish to avoid humanity, which destroyed their homeworld during the great crusade, but also because it interferes with the method by which they navigate. Kresh are all extremely weak psykers, far to pitiful on their own to attract the attention of the denizens of the warp, and channel their powers in immense communes of tens or even hundreds of thousands, creating a slight impression in the warp that they use like a trail of bread crumbs to find their way and the larger the commune the better defined the impression and thus the easier to navigate. The light of the astronomican blinds them such that they cannot see this trail, and so they cannot navigate where its light is brightest. They raid poorly defended ships and worlds for resources, preying on anything that lingers to long in the darker parts of the galaxy.

In combat they are small, swift, utilize adaptive camouflage that, while not rendering them invisible, does make them difficult to spot and harder to hit, make extensive use of traps, ambushes, and surprise attacks, and are quick to flee at the first sign of actual resistance. If pressed they fight using a combination spear/autogun that, though weak in its own right, becomes increasingly powerful when larger numbers of Kresh gather and are able to enhance the effects of their weapons.

Hrud - 40k Skaven equivalent , known as bendies for they extremely flexible arms and legs, able to hide in plain sight and crawl in almost any hole , their bodies produce various poisons, thiefs and scavengers they steal imperial technology (mostly bionics), covered head to toe in tatered rags, masters of warp plasma.

wargear:
rags ,close combat weapons, warp-plasma fusil - 34" heavy 1 plasma gun - its more primitive then the normal plasma gun and takes more time to reload, but the warp plasma hives it greater range, distortion field- that prevents the eye from focusing on the hrud - grants stealth

infiltrate ,scout ,move through cover

They're portrayed in a conflicting manner in a few pieces of fluff, xenology being one of them. I'm personally inclined towards space skaven, though only slightly. You don't want to much copy and pasting from Warhammer Fantasy.

Well those guys can regenerate their whole bodies from one body part - why would they need to shoot someone when they can kill him close and personal without any real danger?Well maybe besides enemies with flamers and tyranids.

nobody said they are space rats - almost everything that I wrote was based on Xenology (bendies ,poison ,rags, stealing technology, hiding), and who cares how they look under the rags- you cant even look strait at them and they melt after death

I like to think of Umbra as more of a strange phenomenon than a sentience, being alternate dimension and all, with the property that they are not "damaged" per se or simply driven back into their alternate dimension.

Warrior codes and such act as a nice balancing agent. If the races which have them didn't, they'd be absolutely dominant, or at least a much greater threat. its fun to have some very powerful races without having them dominate everything, and a code is one way to implement this.

It was never clearly said that hrud=skaven in space but the similarities were overwhelming-to name a few: rat like tail ,rags, ,scavengers, warp-weapon technology, uber-muskets , crouched appearance. GW was known of making 40k armies WHFB armies in space ( so everyone assumed that hrud = space skaven.

Interesting. I think, if/when they pop up in my own DH game, I'm going to play the mysterious angle so the acolytes don't have a clue what they're fighting. I think I've read somewhere that they attack remote Imperial outposts for resources and they would probably fight back if attacked. Besides- they cant be that peaceful - their most known inventions are weapons.
