There's no reason to take Cleric or Wizard for 20 levels, either.

There are a few, like the capstone ability (beguiler gets to ignore Spell Resistance, Dread Necromancer becomes a lich).
Dragonfire Adept gets taken to 18 if not to 20.

I played a fighter to 20, he was awesome.

used a spiked chain

did a whole lot of sunder, trip, and disarm attacks though.

Sunder and disarm are not useful if you are fighting something with no weapons. Trip is not useful againts fuckhuge things. YOU FAIL FOR LEVELING A FIGHTER TO 20 ENJOY YOUR RAPE.

Not really, but there are some guys out there.
Dual Stance/Dual Boost are both fun.
Binding soulmelds to your Heart is powerful.
I guess...the DR granted by some classes...
I dunno. Mostly shit, but sometimes fun.
