My local gaming group (15-20 people, mixed D&D and 40k) is holding a tournie tommorow, and heres my 500 point list based on the 500pts of models I have painted and assembled.

1 Librarian 100pts
10 Marines with Flamer and Missile 170pts
Sergeant with Power sword 15pts
Rhino with HK missile 45pts
5 scouts with boltguns + 1 missile launcher 85pts
5 scouts with snipers + 1 heavy bolter 85pts

Thoughts? Tactics? Powers for Librarian?

Because it's free for absolutely no reason? Like a 10 man Space Marine squad is somehow cost-prohibitive?

Oh wait, you can split them into two squads of 5 and have one buy a razorback (which is extremely cheap nowadays, too) and cruise around with your free flamer while the other squad shoots a missile launcher (which is still great anti-tank against non-armor 14) every turn. For absolutely no reason, as Space Marines aren't even known to have mostly flamers/missile launchers in abundance or anything.

Flamer/missile launcher has always been the "standard" tactical squad loadout, with a chainsword and bolt pistol for the sergeant.

Op back, I can easily get hold of a fist, guy too so I'll trade the HK missile to upgrade sergeants power weapon into a fist.

So new list..

Librarian with avenger and either force dome or GoI
10 man squad with flamer, missile, rhino and fist, possibly combat squadding and taking the librarian with them.
5 bolterscouts with missile
5 sniperscouts with Hbolter

But with those advantages, don't they almost cost as much as a Space Marine with a storm shield? These are the guys that, because of wound allocation, can take the plasma hits and you can still have terminators with power weapons to go at initiative with most Chaos terminators. I mean, if you wanted to. Storm shields are pretty ridiculous as-is.

Of course Chaos Space Marines can beat Space Marines, but the Chaos Codex is fucking stupid (not saying not competitive, just fucking stupid) compared to DERP MARHEENS. Which is odd, because they used to be the second biggest army in 40k.

You fail @ warhammer if you take csm with heavy weapons. If you want shooty go for Noise Marines or Thousand Sons.

However space marine have one drawback too. They can't take two special weapons and unless they are 10 they can't take a special weapon at all.

I am not comparing them against in a vs each other situation but more generally.

Since terminators are so slow assault termies must come in land raider crusaders and the whole package comes in about 570 points.

They will still choke the shit of Chaos terminators but at what cost? Assault from a landraider is the only thing they can do. They do this well however.

Our terminators are much more versatile. They are especially great troop killers and are a serious threat to units sitting back and shooting.

You can't really compare them.
