Really bad tatics you have seen on the field

My story is this... I play Chaos Marines hard core, my friend plays Marines... he has been losing almost every game he's played..
So one day we play against each other in 4E Game with some DE and DH Allies 2000 a army. Fortresses, Orbital, Demo charges... Pretty fun and close game... 3rd turn he moves his tactical squad right out of their fortification in the open...
IN FRONT OF MY Khorne Possessed... With wings and shit... So yeah killed them, Massacared into the building with plenty of delicous killable Inquistion stormtroops
... Locked... endgame.

Still, he just walked his 10-man squads up the middle of the board, ignoring most cover, vs. my Chaos Army of Thousand Sons and a Noise Marines squad hiding in some bushes. He got to CC eventually, but with only two guys left, one of which was his Captain, anyway.

Luckily, he's learning, but it was a classic example of new-player overconfidence.

Against nids he deploys the full 12 with his inf. and keeps his dreadnought from having any working line of sight from the enemy. His Inf are all in a huge horizontal one gun line as well... even his heavy team of one apiece heavy weapons...(he even brought a lascannon and multi-melta in the team)

Doing both at once, in a 750p game... One of few games with my templars where shooting played a major part in my victory.

We right an idiot proof list for him, nothing to out of the ordinary. bolt throwers and crossbowmen, nice big blocks of infantry, a real solid user-friendly army with nothing to tricky. We put his general on a manticore, because its a flying terror machine and a cheaper alternative to the dragon.

We tell him the plan is to advance slowly but surely, keep the general in the line, and let terror do the talking and his boys won't break a sweat.

Pat gets first turn.
The general flies out a full 20 inches into the middle of the table. The rest of the army is a year's worth of marching behind him.

Opponent turn- every ranged unit in the line zeroes in to get their bucket of kentucky fried flying lion with a side of mashed elf general.

Pat turns to me and says "Great plan, Jack."
Well Pat, its good to see you finally learned sarcasm at least.
