Hey /toy/, I'm in a bit of a problem, I've decided i want a model kit of the Yamato, but i don't have the 400 bucks or the skill to get the model i see on HLJ, hell i don't even have 100 bucks. I'm looking for a pre-painted, preferably snap together model of it, hell even a replica would be nice. Can you help me out?

candy toys would be the best you can get. I have seen smaller scale models for about 50.

I recommend Bandai's SOP (Soul of Popynica) Yamato.

IMHO the diecast is a bit lacking.

The engine and main guns are diecast.

But it was still the BEST choice a few years ago.

The RC is WAYYYYYYYY out of my price league.

I got the 1/1300 Diecast Yamato reissue back in 1998. Star Blazers was one of the firstr animes I was exposed to, so I felt I had to get this baby.

Pop-out wings and an opening hanger with three tiny space fighters. This sucker was eight inches of almost pure diecat metal. This toy had a solid feel you cant get with pure plastic.

It cost me about $55-$60 but it was worth it. But that was about 10 years ago

What I have can be found at Ebay for $75. I say jump on it. You wont regret it. Itll make an attractive display piece for years to come.

that is a good price for die cast. that is what I love about die cast toys from japan they just last so long. they will be passed down.
