Hello /toy/

I never really see much of these about on this board so i thought i would share with you my collection. I have only just started collecting them after falling in love with the blind box idea at my local sushi bar. Started off with the Bamboozoo series mainly seen on the far left and has somewhat broadened before i could complete that set.

Has anyone else got a few Dunny's and such hidden beneath their Transformers and Revoltech?

I'm a huge vinyl fan, but Kidrobot's recent lines have been largely disappointing to me. Not too many good designs or concepts. IMO, their shit peaked right around the time Dunny Series 3/Fatcaps Series 1 came out. Right now my main joy lies in customizing the 6" Munnys.

I agree with you. I'm rather displeased with my current supplier aswell, a shop called Schmancy. She seems to ship in every single new item and totally forget about previous lines which irritates me. I understand supply and demand but i thought the point of having specialist shops were to keep on top and have the older stuff.
I only really like the Heroes and Heartbreakers from the newer collections.

Was rather sad to hear the Bamboozoo line is being discontinued.

Never even saw the Bamboozoo line around here. I love the DevilRobots Shiro series, but they're much smaller than most figures, and are still priced at $8 a pop. Makes my wallet hurt just a little more.

The best thing I bought recently was this Buff Monster Ice Cream piece. I liked Buff's shit ever since I got into graffiti, so I'm psyched to see him finally get a figure. It's packaged in a tiny cardboard ice cream tub with a plastic lid, very innovative.

I used to sticker and they remind me so much of the little graffiti characters i used to dream up. So they're very appealing. It is a shame about the price, many shops vary. For example the tiny little Cactus Dog in the front of the original picture cost me $5

Colour wise you should take a look at the Burger Town Heroes, very fun indeed.

I would say close to 3" maybe? They're about as big as your standard Dunny. Legno released a series of cats as well, in the same scale. I bought one of those too (Skeletrino).

Oh, and as for the slightly increased price--they actually feel substantially more "worthwhile" than your standard vinyl. For one, these things are SOLID. They're quite heavy, and pretty filled out. Sculpt and paint apps are excellent, and they've got a nice matte finish. They also come in these cute little window boxes, eliminating the blind-box element (can you imagine getting dupes at $10 a pop? ugh). I'd recommend them.

I think thats what drew me to Bamboozoo, they seem to be heavy, sturdy and more solid in comparison to something like the Heartbreaker and Heroes series. Although i did have a slight disappointment with Froderick (pictured) who wasn't actually vinyl and was instead a thin plastic. He was made this way due to the colour effect but i would have preferred him to be more durable feeling.

Even though i adore the blind box idea, having them with those sweet little windows makes for great display.

Easier said than done with blindboxes. Luckily, the girl at my local shop is down with trading me figs from the case if I get dupes. Also, Kidrobot sometimes has opened boxes in the back, and if you ask nice (and they have it!) they just might fetch you exactly the fig you want.

Well so far at my local shop the lady has also been swapping and they even hold 'swap parties' but luckily i have been blessed enough to not have a single repeat yet. Kidrobot have mailed me a few for free with no reasoning, i also have a case on order at the moment so it will be interesting to see the ratio of characters i receive.

I've also been kindly given display ones that may have an arm or piece snapped off/missing which i have repaired at home.

Bamboozoo, i feel i need to at least complete what got me started. I will most likely sell off the repeats on the Kidrobot forums or ebay for cheap. Although i was astonished to see my brown Miss Mishka was going for $40 on eBay. It will be arriving in a few days so i will post pictures for those who are interested.
It will also be kinda nifty to have the display case at hand that they use for the shop displays.

I think Cannibal Funfair are the next series on the list to complete as i seem to have a lot of those too. Also to check out what others have kindly posted here.

Yep, the debilz series looks great in my opinion, but it's been getting harder to find them in stores.

A good place to start would be looking online at Kidrobot - www.kidrobot.com as they are one of the big manufacturers of such toys. But there are smaller, different groups.
I happened to come across a specialist shop just by chance walking down town, Schmancy - www.schmancytoys.com

But the Kidrobot forums are a hive of information and personal research is always a plus :]

If you are in the LA, West Hollywood area, then there is the kidrobot store on Melrose. Not too sure on the number but it's 2 stores down from the G-Star Raw store.

there's also a couple other comic stores in the area that stocks similar blind box toys like Qee, Kubrick, and Strangeco.'s stuff.

yes yes Urban outfitters do give the Vinyls the bad rep it doesn't deserve. The same thing happened to Holga cameras after they start stocking them at Urban Outfitters.

Have you seen the Simpsons series? they're pretty good looking and the selection of figures are great.

It's still a hunk of colored plastic like any other toy, it's got a tiny bit articulation. There's endless variants and recolors. Its still a form of toy is it not?

I collect revoltechs, transformers, Gunpla, Gashapon, marvel legends, and vinyls. honestly they all have their own traits that make me like each one.
