So /toy/ I see all the really cool Transformers toys you guys pick up and it makes me want to get one. My sister works at KB and will be buying me a gift for Christmas with her employee discount.

Which series/transformer look most badass/ has awesome articulation? Hard mode: it has to be around $25 or so.

Animated is probably one of the more articulated transfomers lines, but the style isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Universe has some awesome stuff.

I have seen a couple of eps of animated and I kind of dig Prowl's design. What's with the sidecar though?

Originally Prowl was released as just regular Prowl, but he's being re-released soon with a sidecar that transforms into attachable 'samurai' armor.

Series-wise, Universe is a hell of a lot more "realistic" looking than Animated, which is ehavily stylised, although I wouldn't say this makes it more bad-ass looking. It varies from TF to TF. While Universe Onslaught is always going to look more bad-ass than Animated Bumblebee, Animated Lockdown will also look more hardcore than someone like Universe Prowl. Same with articulation, really; it'll vary.

$25 will get you a Voyager, maybe an Ultra (not sure of pricing in the US), both of which are pretty large. Failing that, a few smaller ones is always a good idea too.

For bad-ass looking and fitting the price you've suggested, I'd suggest Animated Grimlock or Starscream if you like the style. Neither are amazingly articulated, but they're not exactly bricks either. If you're after a couple of smaller ones, you seem to have taken a liking to Prowl, so I'd suggest getting a Decepticon to go with him. Oil Slick, Black Arachnia and Lockdown are all pretty good (they're the three on the far right of my picture, in front of Starscream).

I don't have a lot of Universe myself, but I'm damn fond of Tankor (Octane to us GEEWUN fags).

I don't have Silverbolt yet, but I like him for being the anthesis of Onslaught: while Onslaught is great at looking like Killing-You-Dead, Silverbolt is heroic with a captial H.

As well, the Blades/Springer mold is awesome fun, and the character of Blades is even cooler. He's a rescue helicopter who believes in fighting dirty, kicking when your foe is down, and being a ruthless horrible person in any fight.

...and he's one of the good guys.
