>>341913I had the one set that looked like your pic there, OP (his name was Argus, btw). While you could assemble them to kinda look like the show characters, they really were worlds apart. I think the toys came first and the show was designed around what the toys looked like. That said, the toys didn't really allow for much character development, as they were supposed to be robotic vehicles driven by humans. They were pretty spindly, gawky robots that looked more like oil rigs than robotic dinosaurs. Take a look at that aborted abomination of a robotic monstrocity in my pic here.
I still loved my set. I never got to see the cartoon as a kid until after I had my set, so I didn't really expect anything. To me it was just a very fuckwin building set with motorized wheels and shit. The parts break REALLY easily on these things, btw.
