Hey /trv, OhioFag here. Next week I'm going to visit a friend in Burbank, California for 5 days. Like a cracker moron, I was thinking of doing a "hood" tour (ie Inglewood, Compton, ect). Not actually touring ghetto hoods, more like taking pictures of street signs, because I'm a scaredy bitch. Is all the 'hood stuff hype, or is there more than a grain of truth.

There's a Randy's Donut I want to go to as well, but it's on the west side of the 405 in Inglewood, not far from LAX. Safe? - I'd imagine, it's a relatively popular place..

I've spent a little time in a number of these communities--mostly Inglewood, where a friend of mine used to live, but a few other areas as well. Mostly not good neighborhoods, by any means, but nothing like a guarantee of instant death, either. Be polite, don't flash an expensive camera, cellphone, or iPod, don't go out of your way to antagonize any of the wanna-be or genuine tough guys standing around on the corners, and for god's sake don't try to bust out your b-boy moves, Ebonics, or rapping talents, and you will be fine.

Believe it or not, some white people actually LIVE there! Every day! And most of them rarely get shot!
