Should I just become a hermit? a monk in Asia somewhere? or just a bum?

Should I man up and become a 'productive member of society'? Work hard to get a worthwhile degree, a solid career, a house,wife, and 1.8 kids? Or should I man up and say "fuck that", defy the 'system' in one way or another? Gotta man up either way.
