us virgin islands worth the trip?

Also I am in the USA and not looking to spend a fortune on traveling as my budget is very limited. So if anyone has been and could tell me how expensive it was that would be good. From the moment I got there until I left, people were harassing and scamming me for everything. You have to pay to do everything. I want a beach chair: $5. Ten minutes later another people comes by and says I need to pay for the chair. I told him I paid. He threatened to call the police.

I rented a jetski and accidentally flipped it. They towed it with me back to shore, said I sunk it and that I have to pay them $250 AS THEY'RE RENTING IT TO SOMEONE ELSE!

Everything is awful overpriced touristy kitsch. Fuck this place. There are way nicer islands.

I think the South Pacific is more romantic and less sketchy.

that is sad and funny too. I was just trying to stick to islands that would be cheaper for me to get too. I dont know how much it cost to fly to Thailand from the US but I figured it would be alot.

With the money you save on decreased daily costs in Thailand (assuming you don't stay in luxury hotels and eat out at fancy places a lot), the extra cost of the flight probably balances out after 2 weeks or so. Seems like flights are around $1200 from California, probably only a few hundred more for East Coast.

You can get either a beach hut or an off-beach hotel room there for $10/night during high season (November through March). There are also good-quality resorts (Warapura) starting at $60/night during high season. You can spend as little as about $2 on a meal.

Off-season prices are going to be lower, but I don't know how low.

Airfare, probably $1500 per person round trip from the U.S. to Bangkok. The bus from Bangkok to Koh Chang is amazingly cheap. I think it was about $10 for a five-hour bus trip. The ferry is another few bucks, and the baht-bus on the island is a ripoff at about $4 (it's controlled by a local crime gang).

As far as romance, I don't think it is, really, unless you're staying someplace like Warapura. That place is gorgeous.
