Hey there /trv/, I saw a thread about someone going to New York, oddly enough I'm planning on going there too. But my position is a bit different. I'm basically going there for what I call self discovery but others (my family) would call running away. I don't have much money so I'm looking for hotels that are inexpensive, but I've also heard from another traveler that the homeless people in Madison square will look out for you if you stick with them.

Pretty much I'm looking for advice on where to stay/survive with a small wallet. I don't plan to stay long just a couple of days but if I want to stay long term what should I do to make it through?
