Go somewhere else. Wait until you're 21+ before you go to New York (or most of America), you'll need ID for most bars, so won't be able to make the most of it. Also, a few weeks in NY is very expensive.

Maybe a few weeks in Asia? You could go to Thailand, chill on the beach and hire a car... mixture of partying and relaxing. Lots of other travellers from all over the world also looking to have fun.

American beer is awesome! The problem is that many bars just go for brands. For some reason they also think that Newcastle is a premium beer! Go to the right places though and you can find some of the world's best micro-brewery beers (Rogue & Stone being my favourites)
