Why people always ask if they need to learn a few words; unless you're going to France or similar "proud of their language" country, there's no reason why one should try to speak anything other than English (or similar language that you both can speak).

Especially if the pronunciation differs greatly... you'll just sound retarded to a native and at most earn pity.

There's thousands of languages in the world. Are you going to learn each one before visiting a country or region? Of course not. People can communicate by sign language or get the general understanding of a message even if one doesn't know the language.

if you don't at least try to help the foreigner who can't speak the language but is trying to look up the phrase, your the rude asshole. being lost in a country you don't know the language for isn't a matter of rude or not, it's straight up dangerous.

Danishfag here. Pretty much everyone in Denmark, Norway and Sweden speak English.. In Denmark alone, 90+% speaks at least a little English and I'm sure it's similar in Norway and Sweden too.

Danes will probably lol and say "nice try" if you have a go at our language. Only tip I can really think of is that you should keep in mind that all of the countries have different currencies with different values, even though all of us use "kroner".

Swedes on average are the best non native English speakers in the EU. Danish are 4th and I'm guessing Norwegians are somewhere close, so you don't really have to bother with phrases etc

Danefag here. Depending on how long you are gonna stay in Denmark here is a couple of things for you to see:

Copenhagen (ofcourse) lots of sights here - chill out in Freetown Christiania for example or some of the old castles and buildings. Have a few beers - copenhagen is very expensive though.

You said you were a naturefag so Northern Jutland - small charming towns like Lønstrup and Løkken - very very beautiful nature in northern Jutland.

If you think Northern Jutland is too far, the island of "fyn" also has some really beautiful nature.

It's not in most of Denmark as well. As much as I love my country, Sweden and Norway has superior nature because they live in fuck huge countries compared to their population, as well as there are many places where humans don't go often.
