Hookay, my bit on Uighurstan:
I sort of don't agree on it being a seperate state from China, basically they had their own nation in the 8th/9th century and that was it really. Before and after that they were either nomadic or part of some other empire. I just don't see what legitimacy it has as having its own nation [then again this can apply for a lot of Central Asian states, I think that they should all unite personally]. If they became independent then so should every nation of peoples, and I think this is sort of counterproductive.
As for Tajiks in Uzbekistan, they have faced some discrimination in the past, i.e. name changes, denial of people being Tajik, etc. Like in Samarqand and stuff there is a lot of Tajik people and you'll hear a lot of Persian being spoken. But I still don't think they should have their part being independent/taken away from Uzbekistan, because then that would mean the Turkmen parts of Iran should be given to Turkmenistan, etc. Just have more mutual respect for eachother basically.
And who here has been to Turkistan?
