I'm going to compile a list of cool shit to see (not just the generic tourist crap like Statue of Liberty or Chysler Building). Anyone know any cool spots/landmarks around the city?

I was there for 6 months this year.

Craigslist is really good for summer sublets if you want your own place or to take over someone's room whilst they're away for the summer. Start looking around April for people advertising them.

Where you live will make a big difference to your experience. I was in the East Village so had everything I wanted on my doorstep and only really caught the subway if I was going to Brooklyn or midtown and above. If you know where you'll be spending most of your time, try and live close if you can afford it, people think they're saving money in cheaper spots, but they make up the difference in taxis and metro cards.

Tell us a bit about you and what you're interested in, then we should be able to give you some good tips.

I actually already have a location. I'm doing my internship through NYU to get housing there. It's pretty cheap. So I'm down in the Village. I've heard mixed things about living there.

It's a great neighbourhood, but I hate going out on Friday and Saturday nights because that's when all the khaki, blue shirt wearing Jersey and NYU faggots invade the area (although that does make it so much easier to pick up chicks).

I love the EV, LES and China Town, there's so much going on and great food even if you've only got a couple of dollars.
