i don't expect to love all the directors i respect, and i don't expect to respect all the directors i love. i'm simply trying to get a handle on what it is that i'm missing when i watch his films.
granted his technique is perfect, but he takes the visual element and almost focusses exclusively on that leaving some desire for a narrative arc driven by plots or characters. if his films are acclaimed for a different reason, i want to know why
TL;DR i understand he's a loved director, but i can't figure out why, no disrespect.
