FUCK man! That was SO great. Its been so long since we had a really hard core sci fi show with great characters and drama and confusing science shit that we can sit down and discuss and theorize.

Can we talk about it?

Here's another episode that reminds me why I love this show so much: it has soooo much more heart than "The X-Files" ever did.

This episode was really about how much the major characters care about one another. They all shared moments, all proved how important they are to each other.

Walter/Olivia scenes: Splendid. Now I can forgive Walter, as he casts affectionate affirmation in Olivia's direction, giving her the strength she needs. Meanwhile, Olivia reveals how much she has come to love Peter and to trust Walter by asking the latter to give her Cortexiphan, just so she can help Peter. Similarly, we see that Walter is unwilling to risk harming Olivia any further, even if it might benefit Peter.

Walter/Astrid: just beautiful. He's angry, but at the same time, he cares about this girl and knows he shouldn't be taking his frustrations out on her. Likewise, she understands and empathizes with what he's going through.

Peter/Olivia: the dialogue these two share actually matters less than the way they look at each other. They do so much with their eyes. Some verbal confirmation of Peter's love for Olivia would have been nice; would it really have killed him to say "I love you too"? All the same, at least he was thinking of her the whole time as he stepped into the machine. She stands at the center of his world.

These people love each other. That's one of the things that makes me love them.

This episode was amazeballs!!!!!

Especially the last 10 mins, so crazy. The P/O moment and all of Peter's flashbacks were so well done. Kudos to both Anna and Josh. I also like how they brought back Olivia's telekinesis, and it basically confirms the mere presence of Peter enhances, if not activates, her abilities. I love how epic this pairing is and how much they support and love each other.

I think I've fallen in love Sam Weiss. He made me laugh the entire episode and he seems to be a genuinely good guy. Although I still wonder about that quote that "he is older than he seems." Is it simply because the name Sam Weiss has been used throughout multiple generations or is there something more to it?
Either way, I hope he doesn't turn out to be a bad guy. The writers' need to replace Fauxlivia's screen time with Sam Weiss instead.

Can't wait for next week :D Also, I love the music FOX used in the season finale promo. I've replayed it multiple times just to hear the music alone.

And yes, the continuity was breathtaking, which is something I basically never get to say in a non-sarcastic manner about any TV show, even for ones I love.

Speaking of love - I was totally unspoiled that Olivia would be part of operating the machine, and: love! I'd been quietly hoping we'd see more of Olivia's abilities, while still looking forward to an epic moment of Peter in the Machine, and here they both were. Fantastic. The scene with Walter and Olivia, as people have mentioned, was also exactly what needed to happen.

I agree that if Sam Weiss is "just" a descendant of those who collected & published The First People, I'll be disappointed. I hope there's more to him.

And holy cow, what the heck happened at the end there? My mind is buzzing with the possibilities. That's almost enough of a 'shocking reveal' to be the season finale itself, IMO. I have no idea how next week can top it, but this show has not let me down yet.

peter and olivia are both highly emotionally damaged. they're not going to have a fairytale hollywood-style relationship, and it's really great how much they're able to represent that on screen; that these are two people that DO love eachother, but they have to work through their own emotional baggage, but they both know that the other is trying... so you get scenes like this where so much is said with so few words.

yeah. fringe is awesome.

I'm really glad Peter's amnesia was not as bad as I feared it was. If he hadn't known who Olivia was (except maybe as some Fringe Division agent that he'd met a few times) that would have bothered me a LOT. I loathe amnesia as a plot device that separates a couple.

Sam Weiss seems pretty awesome, although I agree that I kinda hope there's more to his mysteriousness than being one of a long lineage of Sam Weisses. For now, I will continue in my belief that he's not evil, though of course I am prepared to have that belief changed by the finale!

As soon as Olivia opened the box with the key and I saw the scroll inside, I guessed there would be a drawing of her on it. Probably partially because the whole drawing thing has always reminded me of Alias and Sydney on the Rambaldi prophecy - but I'm quite glad that the whole thing is turning out better than that storyline! Also, I love Olivia's role and relationship to the Machine, and I don't think it takes away from Peter's importance. The fact that they need to be together for it to work just makes my shipper & romantic heart sing.

I agree also that this episode is a real treat for loyal viewers - so many callbacks to previous episodes and plot points! I'm especially glad to see a return to Olivia's abilities. And oh, that scene between Walter and Olivia. Fantastic.

What Peter saw when he got into the Machine (fantastic scene there, too, I must add) - really, really confusing and intriguing. Can't wait to see what we'll discover in the finale!
