Hey Filmfags,

I'm currently writing a paper for a film class, and I've chosen to do it on the 2010 film Rubber.

If you have seen this movie and have an opinion on it please go ahead and post it. I have seen it and discussed with friends, but its nice to hear what others have to say.

if you have havn't seen it.. I would suggest it. Entertaining movie.

Decent movie over all, that said.

The scene of the tire rolling through the desert were way too long and drawn out.

Boring most of the time

What was your take on the "audience" watching? Did you consider yourself a part of that audience?

as to say, Did you watch the film differently because the "audience" was shown?

the whole audience thing was forced and stupid. in the end it felt like a a gimmick from a highschool drama class exercise rather than thoughtful screenwriting.

the whole idea of making a non-movie to illustrate how hollywood makes boring non-movies is quite interesting but not very subtle at all.

The fact that it was forced and stupid, did that make you think differently of how YOU should watch movies? I thought the use of an audience, and the fact that nearly all of them (besides the old man ) are idiots did a great job of explaining why people make the "dumb" movies they make.

On a more technical note, I'm writing on the use of elements like setting (the desert gives the viewer a blank slate to work with), realism (the blatent disregard for it), on screen space (how the zoomed in images of Robert give him an identity and how showing him alone in a space can give him a life of his own)

Anyone who would like to share more about "Rubber" and have an actual conversation about the film is welcome. It seems like all too often there arn't discussions of smaller films like this one on /tv/

Question:
what are some of the "character traits" you would give Robert in the film. Evil? Good? Determined? Etc...

Me and my bru thought it would end up either lolsorandom or 2deep4u, but in the end we had great time.

Yeah, for what it was, all the allegories and satire aside, it was a pretty entertaining and satisfying expliotation romp.

That's what i think.
