>>15833265Which was what actually attracted me to the series, the progression from being fascinated and all fuzzy-wuzzy about the world Rowling had created in the first books, then the clouds starting to form as the series progressed until it hit Grimdarksville. I thought the films did a good job of translating this on-screen, most vividly with Hogwarts Great Hall and environs getting grimmer and grimmer as each movie progressed and as the brightness was being sapped from their world by the return of darkness into it. I may not enjoy Rowling's writing style, but I have to admit she captivated me with her world.
I'm also one of those rare creatures that has liked all the films. My only regret, really, is that they're not long enough to have encompassed all of what the books contained that pertains to their society and the larger picture of the wizarding world, and that I'm old enough that in spite of my joy of it, I'm too much an adult to really be able to celebrate it in the same sense that I did Star Wars back in "the day".
