There's a theme here. Immortality, for one, but also just a... meta feel, using the main character as really a representation of the human race and timeline symbolically. Makes sense cause I've also recently enjoyed the Ascent of Man series and Baraka, both of which make you think a lot about the origin and progression of man over the long haul. 2001 has been seen. Religious themes are good too, but only within the man conversation.
So anyway, any recommendations? I might even be happy with some hard scifi if it involves these themes. I'm a singularity nerd too in case that helps.
