I've wanted to add the Rod Serling "Twilight Zone" series to my collection for a while. Now its on Blu-Ray (the majority of it anyway) & I've heard it looks spectacular in HD.

I can get the DVD collection for pretty cheap so I think I'm gonna' stick with that. What does /TV/ think? Should I hold out for Blu-Ray?

Also, "Twilight Zone" general.

Definitely get the BDs, they are fucking amazing. One of the biggest leaps from DVD to BD that I've seen:

Man I fucking love the Twilight Zone. Did that show age well or what? I doubt there's a better show that has aged as well.

I love the annual Marathon on SciFi every New Year. Although it always depresses me because it always seems to come so soon.

Yes, my copy is fine. They did a re-issue and it SHOULD be in all stores etc. Amazon.com defintely sell the corrected version.

Agreed. Its timeless because it was sci-fi/fantasy that relied on story-telling instead of special effects. Today, the majority of sci-fi that is released is little more than a showcase for the CGI.

im only half way through season one since starting it last week but damn, the narratin and stories are fantastic. i feel like they new that an overabundance of cgi would look horrible as it aged and so a large portion ofthe episodes are psychological or dialogue based.

Yes, and the oldness of it only adds to the atmosphere and improves the show. If anything, it has gotten better with time.

The writing is so good, too. Very memorable and I love the twists at the end. One of my favorite episodes is the one where the are evacuating the planet due to nuclear turmoil, and when they finally make it to the new planet they're like "here we are...they call it planet earth".

It's funny how something as simple as that can make you go "WOW WTF" when you aren't really thinking about it and it catches you off guard. Just great execution.

No one tv show has, or probably will, touch the Twilight Zone in terms of writing or acting. The entire ambiance of the entire series, coupled with Serling's and his colleagues' writing is fucking spectacular.

It's famous, but it should be moreso. I can't get over how good the writing is, plot and dialogue wise, for every episode. It's one of the few shows that didn't pull punches and pander to a stupid audience.
