>>970419True, but that senpai-kohai/mere friendship thing is a very important element to K-On's central theme. And again, I find her attachment to the band as a group important, not necessarily to the individual members. Hell, her friendship to Ui and Jun seems more centered on them as people. I don't mean to take that point too far, though, as in claiming that Azusa is not at all attached to Yui or anyone else.
I'd say the focus on Yui and Azusa comes from their yin-yang symbiosis as musicians: both guitarists, i.e. arguably the centerpiece of the band, but with radically different personalities and approaches to music, life and everything. Watching them try to adapt to each other is very fun and it's another important element, especially for the band's inner workings. I think a big part of it is that Azusa is younger than Yui, but a much more experienced musician, yet Yui quickly reaches her skill level with raw dedication and intuition.
But it's been brought up a couple times why their relationship doesn't seem to be a very good yuri basis, especially when compared to Yui's other options.
Also, it appears we're in the archiving queue. Thanks, anons.
