>>1043553Santana knows that most high school relationships don’t last through college, especially long distance ones. She and Brittany are going to be three hours apart for the next four years instead of side by side the way they have been for almost all their lives.
She doesn’t know how she’s going to survive this. If they’re going to survive this. Who finds their true love in high school anyway?
“Hey,” Brittany says, leaning out of her cab window. “I’m going to miss you.”
“Me too.”
“This isn’t good-bye though.”
“I know.”
“We’ll have phones and I’ll send you letters and drawings.”
“Yeah.”
“I’ll still be with you. It’ll just be like I’ve put on an invisible suit.”
“And three hours isn’t that long a drive.”
Santana wipes at her cheek and laughs tearily. “Yes it is.”
“Not the way I drive.”
Santana leans out of her cab and reaches across to pull Brittany into a kiss. The kiss is desperate but tender, and feels too much like goodbye.
“One for the road,” she whispers, before sinking back into her seat.
She glares at the cab driver who’s eying her from the rear view mirror. As the cab pulls her away from Lima and Brittany, Santana silently cries in the backseat.
Not two minutes pass before her phone beeps.
so how is your car ride going? wanna play eye spy?
spying is easier when you’re invisible
Santana wipes away her tears and laughs.
Maybe they do have a chance after all.
